After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Olmsted Falls, the Avon Eagles were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They skirted past Berea-Midpark 49-46. Given Avon's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Berea-Midpark is ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Avon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abby Owens out in front who scored 15 points. Emma Owens was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
Avon's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Berea-Midpark, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avon will square off against Midview at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Berea-Midpark's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hawken at 2:30 p.m. on January 14th. Hawken is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
