AAAA Region II recap October 8, 2013
Spartanburg fell to Byrnes 35-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Shuler Bentley threw for 396 yards and 5 touchdowns. He was 22-32 with 0 interceptions.
Shaq Davidson was the most successful running back in AAAA Region II this week. He ran for 130 yards on 11 carries as Gaffney topped the Vikings. Teammate Dechrae Foster added to the ground attack by rushing for 77 yards.
Byrnes' Bentley and Meadors have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Bentley has thrown for 2,266 yards this season, while Meadors has 35 catches for 752 yards. The Indians' Hyleck Foster leads the league in rushing yards with 715.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Spartanburg and Dorman. Christopher Miller's team enters the game ranked sixth in the state, while the Cavaliers ranks 21st.
Riverside made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,994 from 9,853. The advance stemmed from a 51-31 victory over the Warriors last week.
