Hanks can now show off 20 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 65-26 win over Ysleta. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-9.
Hanks relied on the efforts of Daisy Fernandez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Zoey Burton, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Burton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 25 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Carrillo, who scored six points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Canutillo's game on Tuesday was all tied up 10-10 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of El Paso by a score of 38-36. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Canutillo in their matchups with El Paso: they've now lost three in a row.
Canutillo's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rebekah Perez, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, and Mikira Wilkes who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Perez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played.
Hanks is on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 22-11 record this season. As for Canutillo, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-11.
Everything came up roses for Hanks against Canutillo in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 63-36 win. With Hanks ahead 36-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
