The Brookhaven Academy Cougars suffered their biggest defeat since November 20, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Oak Forest Academy 65-34. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Brookhaven Academy of the 70-25 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 5th.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oak Forest Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Garrett Shoemaker, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Shoemaker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Trendan Spears was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists and three steals.
Brookhaven Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Oak Forest Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookhaven Academy will take on Bowling Green at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oak Forest Academy, they will be playing at home against Parklane Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Parklane Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
