Huntington Beach has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Simi Valley Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Huntington Beach will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Huntington Beach had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ontario Christian and snuck past 36-33. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Tyler Young continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 169 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Gray, who picked up 128 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Simi Valley can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 27-7 margin over Crean Lutheran. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Simi Valley just coasted through the last quarter.
Jesse Sereno was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 159 yards and a touchdown. Brice Hawkins and his 88 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Simi Valley's victory.
Their wins bumped Huntington Beach to 6-6 and Simi Valley to 7-5.
