Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Blackstone-Millville Chargers walked away with it. They managed a 36-30 victory over Nashoba Valley Tech on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for Blackstone-Millville who now have five in a row.
Daniel Lawton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 212 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per carry. Lawton's longest rush was for an incredible 94 yards.
Blackstone-Millville pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Southbridge and 1-8 St. Paul (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.6% over those games). As for Nashoba Valley Tech, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blackstone-Millville will challenge West Boylston/Tahanto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Boylston/Tahanto is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Nashoba Valley Tech will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Blue Hills RVT at 6:00 p.m. on November 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Blue Hills RVT is ranked 149th, while Nashoba Valley Tech is ranked 170th).
