The John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Wenonah Dragons on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 52-49. It was the first time this season that John Carroll Catholic let down their fans at home.
Leading Wenonah to victory were Jakerria Ringstaff and Gabrielle Blanks. Ringstaff dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Blanks scored 24 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Ringstaff's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
John Carroll Catholic's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-8. As for Wenonah, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. John Carroll Catholic will take on Pleasant Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasant Grove presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than John Carroll Catholic in Alabama (Pleasant Grove is ranked 23rd, while John Carroll Catholic is ranked 172nd). As for Wenonah, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fairfield at 6:00 p.m. Fairfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
