Schenectady has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Ballston Spa Scotties at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Schenectady will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while Ballston Spa is ranked 125th).
Last Friday, Schenectady was beaten by Shaker 63-34.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 29-29 at halftime, Ballston Spa was not quite Columbia's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a hard 63-46 fall against the Blue Devils. Ballston Spa has not had much luck with Columbia recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite their loss, Ballston Spa saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sophia Lee, who scored 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. Mallory Sprissler was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Schenectady's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Ballston Spa, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Schenectady suffered a grim 56-31 defeat to Ballston Spa in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Schenectady avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
