Spanish Fork has gone 9-1 against Payson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Dons will host the Lions at 3:30 p.m. Spanish Fork is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
If Spanish Fork beats Payson with 17 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Dons were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over Pleasant Grove on Tuesday. The Dons have beaten the Vikings the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Vikings has come to flipping the script.
Paizley Boman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and not a single walk). Boman was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lia Higginson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Taylani Reid was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Spanish Fork always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Payson and Springville had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Lions lost 19-6 to the Red Devils on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since May 14, 2025.
Paisley Maxwell and Aydrie Christensen did some serious damage despite the final result: Maxwell went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Christensen went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mahaila Buys, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Spanish Fork's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Payson, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Spanish Fork has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Payson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Spanish Fork couldn't quite get it done against Payson when the teams last played back in March of 2025 as they fell 8-5. Will the Dons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
