The St. Luke's Storm had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 56-34 margin over Holy Child. With St. Luke's ahead 33-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
When it comes to explaining why Holy Child lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sophia Concepcion. Despite the final result, she scored 10 points. Another player making a difference was Emily Encke, who scored 6 points.
St. Luke's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Holy Child, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Luke's will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Storm King at 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
