The Colon Magi pushed their score all the way to 62 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-62 to Quincy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (55), Colon still had to take the loss.
Colon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dalton Williams, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Williams scored a full 37.1% of Colon's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Muntian, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Quincy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brandon Miner out in front who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Miner scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Grant Carter, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds.
Colon has fallen quite a ways from their 18-8 record last season and are now at 1-3. As for Quincy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.
Colon will be home for the holidays to greet Climax-Scotts at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Quincy, they will head out on the road to face off against Athens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Athens comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
