It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Las Lomas Knights can now relate to. They suffered a rough 54-28 loss at the hands of the Cardinals on Friday.
Las Lomas' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sava Pouridis, who rushed for 168 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Mercado, who picked up 167 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Zachary Homan was his usual excellent self, rushing for 381 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 14.1 yards per carry for Cardinal Newman. Homan hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Ma'tai Fa'agata, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Las Lomas' loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Cardinal Newman, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Las Lomas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cardinal Newman will take on Marin Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on November 25th. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Marin Catholic: 5.4, Cardinal Newman: 14.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
