Northern Garrett has gone a perfect 8-0 against Hancock recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Huskies will host the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northern Garrett has nine straight victories, Hancock has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Northern Garrett was able to grind out a solid win over Varsity Opponent, taking the game 4-1.
Landon Yoder spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits.
At the plate, Wally Brands was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Liam Stewart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Northern Garrett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Hancock came up short against Southern on Thursday, falling 10-4.
Logan Hendershot put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Hancock: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Tyler Clingerman was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Northern Garrett pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.7 runs. As for Hancock, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Hancock's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northern Garrett has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. It's a different story for Hancock, though, as they've only averaged .335. Will they be able to contain Northern Garrett's hitters?
Everything went Northern Garrett's way against Hancock when the teams last played back in March, as Northern Garrett made off with a 20-0 win. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
