The South Caldwell Spartans entered their tilt with the Hickory Red Tornadoes with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. South Caldwell took down Hickory 52-33 on Wednesday. Given South Caldwell's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Hickory is ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lillie Bumgarner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of South Caldwell's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Setzer, who scored 12 points.
South Caldwell's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.67 points. As for Hickory, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Caldwell won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Caldwell at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. West Caldwell comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Hickory will be home for the holidays to greet Freedom at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
