A Region V recap Oct. 30, 2012
Allendale-Fairfax extended the longest winning streak in A Region V this week by beating Whale Branch, 14-7. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Tigers.
Rico Parler and Xavier Reid gave Denmark-Olar a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Parler threw for 50 yards and one touchdown, while Reid ran for 211 yards. Teammate De'Vien Sanders added to the ground attack by rushing for 69 yards.
Reshawn Riley was the best wideout in the league this week as Allendale-Fairfax bested the Warriors. Riley racked up three receptions for 53 yards. Denzell Washington helped Allendale-Fairfax's passing attack out by catching one ball for 34 yards.
Whale Branch's Brandon Morton and Devonta Delaney have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Morton has thrown for 717 yards this season, while Delaney, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 25 catches for 723 yards. Eddie Ford's team's Brandon Jordan leads the league in rushing yards with 914.
The top two teams in A Region V will face off this week when first place Allendale-Fairfax takes on second place Whale Branch. The Tigers beat Jerry Hatcher's team last week, while Jerry Hatcher's team fell to the Tigers.
Allendale-Fairfax's Jordan needs only 86 yards against the Warriors next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Tigers take on Whale Branch. Allendale-Fairfax has allowed 73 points this season, while the Warriors have given up 163. The Tigers allowed 7 points last week as they defeated Whale Branch.
Bethune-Bowman led the league in scoring this week after putting up 52 points on Branchville.
