The Irvington Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Yonkers Montessori Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Irvington and ten for Yonkers Montessori Academy.
Last Monday, Irvington was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-45 to Barack Obama School for Social Justice.
Meanwhile, Yonkers Montessori Academy was the victim of a rough 53-28 loss at the hands of Hastings on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Yonkers Montessori Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 767th, while Hastings is ranked 203rd).
Irvington has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Yonkers Montessori Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Irvington against Yonkers Montessori Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2014 as the team secured a 81-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Irvington since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
