The Kennedy Knights had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They walked away with a 51-41 win over Lakeland Regional. Given Kennedy's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Lancers are ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kennedy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was My'Shayla Clancy out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Zahniya Castillo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Kennedy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Lakeland Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
Kennedy will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clifton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Lakeland Regional, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
