The Sneads Pirates will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sneads made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Chipley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Sneads put the hurt on Chipley with a sharp 15-4 victory on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their one-run performance the match before.
Kinsey Ragans was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Alex Gaines was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Sneads was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Port St. Joe never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 9-0 margin over Wakulla Christian School. The win continues a trend for the Tiger Sharks in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won six in a row.
Brayden Dailey looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Port St. Joe is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Port St. Joe let Corban Butts and Baylor Partie run wild. Butts scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4, while Partie scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Port St. Joe is undefeated when Butts posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise.
With the victory, Sneads broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5. As for Port St. Joe, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Sneads has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Port St. Joe struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sneads was able to grind out a solid win over Port St. Joe in their previous matchup back in February, winning 7-4. Will Sneads repeat their success, or does Port St. Joe have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
