After flying high against the Central Academy Cougars last Friday, the Anson Bearcats came back down to earth. Anson fell 74-65 to Parkwood on Thursday. Anson has not had much luck with Parkwood recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Anson's loss came despite strong showings from Jayden Little and Ryan Robinson. Little scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Robinson scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 33.8% of Anson's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jaqualin Liles, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Parkwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cameron McKinney, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. McKinney is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last ten games he's played. Malik Paulhill was another key contributor, scoring 25 points.
Anson has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Parkwood, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-6.
Anson will head out on the road to take on West Stanly at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Parkwood, they will be playing at home against Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
