Brevard has won nine straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Pisgah has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Blue Devils will welcome the Bears at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Brevard took their game with ease, bagging a 36-3 win over Tuscola. With the Blue Devils ahead 29-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Brevard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ty Griffin led the charge by picking up 122 receiving yards and one TD. Another signal caller making a difference was Chrstian Conley, who threw for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. All came from Cristin Castillo: he went 4-for-4 kicking field goals for 12 points.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pisgah). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat East Henderson 56-6. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Eagles are ranked 377th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pisgah didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Harper Henson, Matthew Mehaffey, and Caleb Miller picked up one apiece.
Pisgah's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Brevard, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Brevard has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 205 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pisgah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 232.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Brevard against Pisgah in their previous matchup back in August of 2024, as the team secured a 35-0 victory. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
