The Community Christian Academy Warriors will head out to challenge the Mountain View Christian Academy Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Community Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Community Christian Academy and The Master's Academy, and Community Christian Academy kept the tradition alive. Community Christian Academy had just enough and edged out The Master's Academy 7-6 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.
Cole Richardson made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Community Christian Academy let Mason Maltba and Enoch Taylor run wild. Maltba scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Taylor scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Brooks, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Mountain View Christian Academy not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024. They blew past Lake Lure Classical Academy 9-0. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Like Community Christian Academy, Mountain View Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Charlie Quin. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Quin was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cash Young, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. That run marked the first that he scored this season. Kyle Smith was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Mountain View Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Community Christian Academy's record now sits at 3-1. As for Mountain View Christian Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Mountain View Christian Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Community Christian Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for Mountain View Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Community Christian Academy's sizable advantage in that area, Mountain View Christian Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Community Christian Academy took their victory against Mountain View Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-3.
