Fife has gone 9-1 against Washington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Fife got the win against Jefferson by a conclusive 10-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
Mallory Geving made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Kaitlin Christiansen was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Mallory Robson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Fife kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Washington hadn't done well against Orting recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Patriots blew past the Cardinals 11-1.
Like Fife, Washington also got a great game from a two-way player: Steve-Rae Garcia-Zamora. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. Garcia-Zamora was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Washington let Alex Miles and Harmony Steenhard run wild. Miles went 4-for-5 with three RBI and one run, while Steenhard went 4-for-5 with three runs and one double. Dee Moore was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Fife's record is now 8-5. As for Washington, their record now sits at 6-3.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fife has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Washington struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Fife's way against Washington in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Fife made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
