The Shelby County Rockets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Atherton Ravens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kentucky (Shelby County is ranked 81st, while Atherton is ranked 69th).
Last Friday, Shelby County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 34-28 to Henry County.
Meanwhile, Atherton had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They took down Fairdale 24-6.
Mike Curry was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns.
Shelby County now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Atherton, their win was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Everything came up roses for Shelby County against Atherton when the teams last played back in August of 2018 as the squad secured a 49-12 victory. Will Shelby County repeat their success, or does Atherton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
