After only 22 points in their last matchup, Cherry Valley-Springfield made sure to put some points up on the board against Sharon Springs Central back in December of 2023. Meanwhile, Franklin Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Laurens Central on the road and fell 55-26. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Franklin Central has suffered yet this season.
Despite the defeat, Franklin Central saw an underclassman step up: Shannon Kingsbury scored 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Kingsbury is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Cherry Valley-Springfield pushed their record up to 1-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Franklin Central, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Everything came up roses for Cherry Valley-Springfield against Franklin Central in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 66-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cherry Valley-Springfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
