It was a good run, but the Liberty Patriots unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to Desert Pines. Liberty was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Desert Pines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: Tyler Bright dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jace Aquiningoc, who scored 12 points.
Liberty's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3. As for Desert Pines, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
Liberty will be playing in front of their home fans against Mojave at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Liberty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday. As for Desert Pines, they will head out on the road to face off against Arbor View at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Desert Pines has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 377 points over their last six matches.
