After flying high against North Bay Christian Academy last Tuesday, the Patten Academy Bulldogs came back down to earth. Patten Academy had to suffer through a rough 89-32 loss at the hands of Cornerstone Christian. While losing is never fun, Patten Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1381st, while Cornerstone Christian is ranked 386th).
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Empire Hall, who scored 20 points. That was a full 62.5% of Patten Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Aaron Donahue, who scored ten points.
Patten Academy's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-12. As for Cornerstone Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patten Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cristo Rey De La Salle at 3:30 p.m. on January 30th. Cornerstone Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Contra Costa Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Contra Costa Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
