1A Region 3 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Noxapater extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 3 this week by beating Ethel, 47-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Tigers.
West Oktibbeha moved up to 154 from 186 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Timberwolves climbed the ranks as a result of a 54-6 win over Weir.
Tiberias Lampkin was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 279 yards on 22 carries as West Oktibbeha topped the Lions. Von Smith also contributed to the rushing game with 62 yards on the ground.
Tate was the best wideout in 1A Region 3 this week as Adam Lowrey's team bested Weir. Tate tallied two receptions for 81 yards. Jerell Daniels helped West Oktibbeha's passing attack out by catching two balls for 15 yards.
Cody Shaw put up the best numbers through the air as Sebastopol fell to Pelahatchie. He finished with a total of five completions for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Shaw's favorite target this week was Chris Williams, who caught two passes for 43 yards.
West Oktibbeha's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Timberwolves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 775 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Tate has 14 catches for 384 yards. Lampkin leads the league in rushing with 862 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Tigers take on the Chiefs. At the moment, Ethel is in sixth, while Pelahatchie is in first.
Noxapater was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Justin hunter's team vanquished Paul Dees's team 47-6 earlier in the week.
