The Madison Trojans entered their tilt with the Trinity Leadership Tigers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Madison had just enough and edged Trinity Leadership out 61-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Madison has posted yet this season.
Madison can attribute much of their success to Kailen Cade, who scored 18 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Cade scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brandon Reece, Jr, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Trinity Leadership's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Lockwood, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Lockwood posted two or more blocks. Matthew Maiden was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Trinity Leadership smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Madison has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 16 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Trinity Leadership, their loss dropped their record down to 10-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will take on A Plus Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. A Plus Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Trinity Leadership won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Inspired Vision at 11:00 a.m. on January 13th. Inspired Vision is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51 points per game.
