Basketball Recap: Innovation Comes Up Short

Innovation played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Lake Buena Vista Vipers, falling 72-44. While losing is never fun, the Bulls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 706th, while the Vipers are ranked 333rd).

Despite the loss, Innovation had strong showings from Jadis Santamaria, who posted 18 points, and Carlos Naranjo, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points and four steals. Naranjo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played.

Travis Ligene was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine assists for Lake Buena Vista. That's the most assists Ligene has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Dhamija, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Innovation and nudges their season record down to 1-9. As for Lake Buena Vista, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Innovation didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 79-44 defeat against Freedom on the 20th. As for Lake Buena Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-46 win against Lake Nona on the 19th.
