The Horizon Scorpions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a hard 60-46 fall against Ysleta. The matchup was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but Horizon couldn't quite close it out.
Ysleta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Gonzalez, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gonzalez has scored all season. Azaiah Thompson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Horizon dropped their record down to 7-18 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Ysleta, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horizon will square off against the Matadors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ysleta, they will head out on the road to challenge the Conquistadores at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
