5A District 8 recap December 3, 2013
Lakewood scaled the state rankings by moving to 52 from 95 this week, the biggest jump in 5A District 8. The Spartans climbed the ranks as a result of besting South Sumter 27-21.
Lakewood extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Raiders, 27-21. The win marks fourth in a row for the Cory Moore's team.
Boca Ciega's Derrick Cook and Sekendric Biddines led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Cook has thrown for 1,095 yards this season, while Biddines has 39 catches for 575 yards. Michael Ford from Tarpon Springs leads the league in rushing with 1,378 yards.
The Spartans and South Sumter played the most contested game in 5A District 8 this week, with the Spartans eventually emerging with a 27-21 victory.
