Laughlin kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a 74-6 loss at the hands of the Tonopah Muckers. Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ian Fellar, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Dustin Otteson was a one-man wrecking crew For Tonopah. as he rushed for 359 yards and five scores on only 13 carries, and also threw for 32 yards and one touchdown. Otteson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass. Adelaido Salgado was in the mix as well, providing Tonopah with two TDs.
Tonopah has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laughlin will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Beaver Dam at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tonopah, they will take on Eureka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
