Basketball Recap: Ten Straight Home Wins for Summit Christian Academy

Summit Christian Academy won the last time they faced Richmond and things went their way on Thursday too. The Summit Christian Academy Eagles claimed a resounding 82-46 victory over the Richmond Spartans. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 25 points or more this season.

Summit Christian Academy was led to victory by Mike Thomas III and Max Rieger. Thomas III went 7 of 10 on his way to 20 points in addition to six boards and six steals, while Rieger went 9 for 16 on his way to 22 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Rieger's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Bechtold, who made all 5 shots he took to post 12 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Summit Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richmond only racked up five assists.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tristin Mccoy, who posted two points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brice Dome, who put up four points and three steals.

Summit Christian Academy pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.1 points. As for Richmond, they moved to 6-1 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Summit Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-45 defeat against Smith-Cotton on the 21st. After both having extra time off, Richmond and Wellington-Napoleon will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
