Basketball Recap: Afton Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Megan Racine and Rylee Rupakus

After flying high against Worcester on Thursday, Afton came back down to earth. The Knights fell 50-37 to the Sharon Springs Central Spartans on Saturday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

Despite the defeat, Afton had strong showings from Rylee Rupakus, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine steals, and Megan Racine, who posted four points in addition to 12 boards and three steals. With that strong performance, Rupakus is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game.

Afton's loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Afton will challenge Sidney at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sharon Springs Central, they will square off against Middleburgh at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
