The Baird Bears are taking a road trip to face off against the Hamlin Pipers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Baird was handed a 17-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 27-25 win over Aspermont.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hamlin). They blew past Jayton 23-3 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Piper Sepeda was excellent, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and one double. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2025. Krista Davis was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Hamlin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in three consecutive games.
Hamlin has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Baird, their record is now 3-8-2.
Baird came out on top in a nail-biter against Hamlin in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 18-17. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pipers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
