The Hillsboro Indians lost against the Peebles Indians back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Hillsboro fell to Peebles 56-50. While losing is never fun, Hillsboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 386th, while Peebles is ranked 104th).
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blake Herdman, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Herdman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Peighton Bledsoe, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
It was another big night for Payton Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds for Peebles. Johnson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Abigail Smalley was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Hillsboro's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-9. As for Peebles, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.
Hillsboro will head out on the road to face off against Chillicothe at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chillicothe is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. Peebles will take on Williamsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
