This season hasn't been kind to the Lovett Lions, who are still winless after their seventh match. They suffered a tough 42-16 loss at the hands of Mt. Zion on Friday. That's two games in a row now that Lovett has lost by exactly 26 points.
Mt. Zion's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tayjianna Smith, who scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Mt. Zion's points. Another player making a difference was Makayla Juhan, who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds.
Lovett's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Mt. Zion, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lovett will face off against Creekside Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Creekside Christian Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lovett in Georgia (Creekside Christian Academy is ranked 116th, while Lovett is ranked 432nd). Mt. Zion will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Morrow at 3:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Morrow is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
