MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - A 40-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter didn't slow down
Manchester (Midlothian, Va.) as it put 28 more points on the scoreboard to secure its victory over Wythe (Richmond, Va.) 59-14.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Carlos Morales in the first quarter, the Lancers were up 40-0 at the half.
Both teams scored six points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 40 entering the fourth.
With the win Manchester extended its winning streak to six games. Manchester defeated Cosby 20-19 last week.
Elvis Martinez stood out for MHS in the win. He kicked six extra points.
The Midlothian school had given up an average of 11.7 points prior to the contest.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 62-0 win for the Lancers.
In a non-conference game next week Manchester (7-1) takes on James River, and Wythe (0-8) will go up against Cosby also in a non-conference game.
