McNeil hasn't had much luck against Stony Point recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mavericks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. McNeil has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
McNeil lost 11-1 to Round Rock on Tuesday.
McNeil saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bethany Adams, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Audrey Melnar also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Stony Point never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Vandegrift on Tuesday. They blew past the Vipers 13-1. Considering the Tigers have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison Petersen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Stony Point got a massive performance out of Kali Winner, who fired off three home runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Winner has posted since back in February. Megan Paulk was another key player, firing off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4.
Stony Point lost a few balls and finished the game with six home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Stony Point has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for McNeil, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
