Basketball Game Preview: Forsyth Country Day Furies vs. Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans

Forsyth Country Day hasn't had much luck against Wesleyan Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Forsyth Country Day Furies will head out to challenge the Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Tuesday, Forsyth Country Day came up short against Ravenscroft and fell 55-48. The Furies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Forsyth Country Day saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lila Kelly posted 26 points. Kelly's evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gigi Lyons, who had 11 points.

Meanwhile, Wesleyan Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against Grace Christian, falling 75-37. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Crusaders are ranked fifth).

Forsyth Country Day will need focus on slowing down Kennedy Jackson, one of several Wesleyan Christian Academy players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Kate Carr, who earned nine points.

Wesleyan Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Forsyth Country Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Forsyth Country Day might still be hurting after the 68-44 loss they got from Wesleyan Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Forsyth Country Day avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
