Lakeside Lutheran has gone a perfect 10-0 against Columbus recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Warriors will host the Cardinals at 6:45 p.m. Columbus took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lakeside Lutheran, who comes in off a win.
While Lakeside Lutheran's victory against Lodi wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Blue Devils 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Lakeside Lutheran was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (100-94), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-17, 12-25, 17-25, 15-13.
Meanwhile, Columbus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Lake Mills, falling 3-0.
While Columbus had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-18, 25-20.
Lakeside Lutheran will have to contain Gwen Kalafut as she made an impact in Columbus' last game. She had 21 digs and one assist. Kalafut has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played.
Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Lakeside Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 14-22.
Lakeside Lutheran took their win against Columbus in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
