The Bradshaw Mountain Bears will head out to face off against the Prescott Badgers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Bradshaw Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Bradshaw Mountain managed to slip by Greenway the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Bradshaw Mountain lost 14-3 to Greenway on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bears have suffered since April 12, 2024.
Bradshaw Mountain saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Bianchi, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Bianchi also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Prescott). They put the hurt on ALA - Gilbert North with a sharp 13-1 win on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Badgers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Prescott got a massive performance out of Mariah Smolnikar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Smolnikar a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Belle Mazon, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Prescott always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as ALA - Gilbert North only posted an OBP of .278.
Prescott moved to 2-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Bradshaw Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Prescott's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bradshaw Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Prescott, though, as they've only averaged .338. Will they be able to contain Bradshaw Mountain's hitters?
Everything went Bradshaw Mountain's way against Prescott when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Bradshaw Mountain made off with an 11-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bradshaw Mountain since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
