Mitchell put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They slipped by the Orono Spartans 61-60. 61 seems to be a good number for the Kernels as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Mitchell pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Orono, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mitchell will finish 2024 at home by hosting Orlando Christian Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mitchell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Orlando Christian Prep likes a good challenge. As for Orono, they will be playing at home against Hopkins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopkins will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Orono surely won't give up without a fight.
