The Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets will challenge the Snowflake Lobos at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blue Ridge is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
Last Friday, Blue Ridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Alchesay, taking the game 9-4.
Kaden Edgington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on nine hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Matthew Rooney was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Noah Chee, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Snowflake hadn't beaten Show Low on the road since April 13, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. Snowflake narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Show Low 5-3.
Skip Bawden was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Bawden was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Snowflake got a big performance out of Aaden Coor, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Gavin Rausch was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Snowflake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Show Low only posted a batting average of .185.
Snowflake is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. Blue Ridge pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Blue Ridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Snowflake struggles in that department as they've averaged .492. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Blue Ridge might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Snowflake in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Blue Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
