The Clayton Clippers's game on Thursday was all tied up 23-23 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 55-46 to Vineland. Clayton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Rainelle Blocker and Jordyn Jones certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Blocker dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Jones scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and three steals. Blocker scored a full 26.1% of Clayton's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. La'Naya Carr-Archie was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Clayton bumped their record down to 2-4 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Vineland, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clayton and Gloucester Catholic will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gloucester Catholic will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Vineland and Bridgeton will face off at 5:30 a.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bridgeton is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
