The Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They really took it to Crooms Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-28 win at home. The victory was just what Cornerstone Charter Academy needed coming off of a 69-34 loss in their prior contest.
Leading Cornerstone Charter Academy to victory were Fernanda Sanchez and Grace Jervis. Sanchez scored 14 points, while Jervis scored 18 points. Jervis' trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Makenah Maddox, who scored eight points.
Despite the loss, Crooms Academy still got an impressive performance from Zoe Fulgencio, who scored 18 points. That was a full 64.3% of Crooms Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Hassaballah, who scored ten points.
The win got Cornerstone Charter Academy back to even at 7-7. As for Crooms Academy, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-10.
Cornerstone Charter Academy will square off against Old Plank Christian Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Old Plank Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 26.5 points per game this season, so Cornerstone Charter Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Crooms Academy, they will be playing at home against Warner Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
