Make it nine blowout wins for the Gainesville Cardinals this season. They claimed a resounding 75-44 victory over Battlefield at home. Given Gainesville's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Battlefield is ranked 92nd), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gainesville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Peyton White out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. White is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Ellingson, who scored 16 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Gainesville and bumps their season record up to 15-3. As for Battlefield, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.
Gainesville will head out on the road to take on Osbourn at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Osbourn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday. As for Battlefield, they will be playing at home against Osbourn Park at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
