South Fremont is 1-9 against Sugar-Salem since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The South Fremont Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Sugar-Salem Diggers at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (South Fremont is ranked 21st, while Sugar-Salem is ranked 23rd).
South Fremont suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Wednesday. They were the victim of a tough 69-45 defeat at the hands of Teton. South Fremont has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Meanwhile, even though Teton scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, Sugar-Salem still came out on top. Sugar-Salem walked away with a 65-55 win over Teton. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sugar-Salem.
Sugar-Salem's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Monika Nead, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Ashlyn Harris, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hailey Dalling, who scored nine points.
South Fremont's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Sugar-Salem, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
South Fremont skirted past Sugar-Salem 49-46 in their previous matchup last Friday. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Harris, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will South Fremont still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
