Silver Stage is 1-9 against Pershing County since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Nighthawks will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Silver Stage has given up an average of 11.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Silver Stage came up short against North Tahoe on Saturday, falling 17-4.
Landen Wolf was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Welch, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Pershing County posted their closest victory since March 17th on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Sierra Lutheran.
Ayden Montes made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Pershing County is 9-2 when Montes posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Montes, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Pershing County's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-10. As for Silver Stage, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Silver Stage has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pershing County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Silver Stage might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Pershing County in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Nighthawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
