Box Elder has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Roy Royals at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Box Elder focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 13 more assists than your opponent, a fact Box Elder proved. They took down Clearfield 61-44.
Box Elder's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jocelyn Vranes, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Vranes scored 15 or more points. Kaydence Barber was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten steals.
Meanwhile, Roy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 54-29 loss at the hands of Bountiful. Roy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-7.
Despite the loss, Roy got a solid performance out of Ariana Strain, who scored 11 points.
Box Elder's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Roy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Box Elder took their victory against Roy in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 36-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for Box Elder since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
